Boaco |
Teustepe | Boaco is the capital city and municipality of the Boaco department of Nicaragua. Located on the hilly central region of Nicaragua, it is the economic hub of the agricultural and cattle ranching lands in its vicinity. Though it was founded at the end of the 19th century, it is still a small city or "large town". Boaco is called "La Ciudad de Dos Pisos", named by Dr. Armando Incer Barquero. The only two places that are like a table are: The Central Park and the Baseball Field. |

Paintings of Nicaragua:Being Nicaragua a land of Lakes and Volcanoes, located in the tropics, with beautiful beaches, the ones in the Pacific Coast with dark volcanic sand and the ones in the Atlantic Coast with white sand. The landscape is more dramatic, sunsets have strong colors and seascapes are spectacular. Nicaragua has two lakes, Cocibolca or Nicaragua Lake and Xolotlan or Managua Lake. Both lakes are beautiful and have Volcanoes on them. Xolotlan has the peninsula of Chiltepe, Momotombo and Momotombito. Cocibolca Lake or Granada Lake has the Ometepe Island, in front of Rivas, with two Volcanoes, the Concepcion Volcano and Maderas volcano. The Major volcanoes in Nicaragua are, Cerro Negro, Concepción (volcano), Cosiguina, Las Lajas (volcano), Las Pilas, Maderas, Masaya Volcano, Mombacho. We have San Juan del Sur in Rivas and beautiful Colonial Cities as Granada and Leon. Nicaragua has many artesans and they sell their art in Masaya market. Nicaragua's folklore is present with it's dances as Los diablitos, La gigantona, El Viejo y la Vieja, El toro huaco, El baile de las inditas (The female indian's dance) and of course El Gueguense. During the religious festivities as Las fiestas de Santiago or the celebration of Saint Sebastian or San Marcos, people parade with their horses and it is calle La Hipica. In December, The Immaculate conception is celebrated (La Purisima) along the whole Country. Nicaragua's Colonial Churches are examples of architectural beauty and many of them house valuable pieces of art as The Cathedral of Leon, Parroqua de San Sebastian in Diriamba, Parroquia de Santiago apostol in Jinotepe, etc. The hot tropical weather changes when you go tho the North, toward Matagalpa and Jinotega, Esteli and Nueva Segovia, which have mountains and the altitud turns the calid tropic into cold weather. The tropics affect the colors in nature, being these more saturated and primaries. Flowers are more intense in saturation and some are fragile as our National flower, frangipani or sacuanjoche. Flora and Fauna are abundant, we find iguanas and Nicaragua is one of the few places in the world where turtles come. Tropical birds with exotic colorfull feathers as parrots or cockatees, monkeys are abundant, as well as poisonous snakes. |
